We have included underneath the video a breakdown of all costs and transport information.
Costs and Transport Information
To see our transport costs and information for the journey to Belize from Mexico click on the txt below.
We kept our accommodation and transport money separate, our daily budget for food and drinks etc in Belize was £20 per person, per day. The cost of food and drink in Belize was slightly higher than in Mexico so we had no change left over this time.
The hostel we stayed in on the island of Caye Caulker was called Bella’s Backpackers. This was located on Crocodile street and cost £21 each for 2 nights. This was one of the cheapest options we could find on the island and it was very basic as you can see by the video.
We hired Kayaks from Sunset Cruise for 10 Belize Dollars each, this works out at around £3.80 per hour.
The Golf buggy we hired from a place down by the Marina, they charged 40 Belize Dollars between us (£5 each person)
Travel from Caye Caulker to Belize City
The water taxi had been booked online at www.belizewatertaxi.com, it took us less than an hour and cost us £16 per person. We caught the early boat at 6.30am from the Marina just opposite the Sports Bar.
Travel from Belize City to Flores (Guatemala)
We bought tickets for the coach at the Marina in Belize city, where the boat had dropped us off. We paid £17.46 (46 Belize Dollars each) for the 10.30am coach. The coach was booked with Marvelus Travel, and took 6 hours to get to Flores including the border crossing and a free change over to local shuttle with a handy cash point stop off.
The departure tax to leave Belize is 40 Belize Dollars, which works out at £15 per person.
Total cost per person for 2 nights budget backpacking in Belize, departure tax, plus onwards travel to Guatemala was £118.26.
Total cost of the trip so far, 10 days backpacking through 2 countries is £438.26 per person.

It was a slightly expensive stop to make as travel to and from the island of Caye Caulker was expensive, but we really wanted to see the island.
